Microsoft is working on technologies of spatial search

Bing search engine from Microsoft is preparing the introduction of new engine concept - the spatial or three-dimensional search (Spatial Search). The idea to use this search technology began to be discussed in December with the release of new version of the maps Bing Maps. In the future, the corporation plans to improve the architecture of its mapping service and allow him the maximum link data with the context.

An ordinary person, making a decision, use your feelings, knowledge and experience. In creating the concept of spatial search, Microsoft tried to use all these new items to get a result with a search engine.

The ordinary man is focused on areas of recruitment of different characteristics. This interaction with other people (in this cafe sells delicious pastries), and their own feelings (too cold), and the time factor (the store closes soon).

For example, a person looking for the nearest dry cleaner. To do this, he is currently the location of the house in a specific street. If on the way to the dry cleaners, a person hears the smell of tasty coffee or fresh bread, he can go to a cafe or pastry shop.

Thus, the spatial search of Bing will focus primarily on personal experience and feelings, not only on the basis of myslezaklyucheny.

Simulate the spatial search using the computer is actually very difficult. However, it produces the best results of the search engines.

One way of introducing spatial search in Bing - the use of high resolution photos on the pages of mapping platform Bing Maps. A prototype implementation of this idea - the service Streetside Photos, allowing to combine photos from Flickr tagged with geo-service and Streetside from Microsoft. This tool allows you to attach images to their actual spatial context, so the user can get more information about the objects on the map.
